 No, extras do not have scripted lines. If an extra is given a line, they may be upgraded to a featured extra or day player, which usually comes with higher pay and potential union eligibility.

 No, acting experience is not required. As long as you can follow directions and behave professionally on set, you can be hired as an extra.

yes! We are a non-union area, so background performers are not covered by SAG on tv and film. However, since this does not fall into the coverage area, anyone SAG can still work here if interested. Every project is different - our current project rate is $250/12 for a background performer and you are paid via a voucher. Everyone needs to be 18+ unless asked specifically for minors - and you must be able to show proof of i-9 qualifications to be employed in the USA. 

 A typical filming day lasts 8 to 14 hours, and extras often spend a lot of time waiting between takes. Be prepared for long hours and bring something quiet to do during downtime.

Sometimes. Productions may provide costumes, but extras are often asked to bring specific outfits (e.g., business attire, casual wear, or season-appropriate clothing). Always follow the wardrobe guidelines given by the casting team.

Remember this is a professional work setting.  

You should not approach lead actors unless spoken to first. Professionalism is key on set, and disrupting the main cast can result in being removed from the production.

Appropriate wardrobe if required. 

A book, phone, or something quiet to pass the time.

Comfortable shoes, as you may be standing for long periods of time. 

Do not bring: Guests/ pets/ kids/ loud music without headphones/ expensive items

 It depends on availability, demand and creative needs of the scene. Some people work as extras regularly, while others only get occasional gigs. The more flexible you are with your schedule, the more opportunities you’ll have.

 Background work is never contracted or guaranteed.  We may send out dates asking if you are available - but you are only booked when you receive a confirmation to those dates we may have asked you about - and then the day before we send you all of the information for reporting. 

 Most productions ask you NOT to post on social media - so DO NOT do it. You will sign an NDA when you sign your voucher - so to be safe no posting of any content from your day on set.
